Spending on experiences trumps traditional shopping in the US travel sector

According to a 2023 Mastercard study, tourists are increasingly prioritizing experiences over discretionary shopping when on holiday, and the desire to indulge seems to triumph here, too. As of March 2023, traveller global spending on things was up 12% compared to 2019 figures, but this is nothing compared to spending on experiences, which has increased by 65%. In the United States, this trend also rings true.
